Flow In The Forest Code of Conduct

Welcome to Flow In The Forest, a community-focused fire and flow arts event. This event is designed to foster creativity, connection, and safety. To ensure everyone has a positive experience, we ask all attendees to follow this Code of Conduct.

General Behaviour

Respect Everyone:

  • Treat all attendees, organisers, and performers with respect and kindness. Bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

Consent is Key:

  • Always ask for permission before entering someone’s personal space, touching their props, or photographing or recording them.

Conflict Resolution:

  • If disagreements arise, approach them calmly and respectfully. If needed, report issues to event organisers, who are here to help mediate.

Inclusivity:

  • This is a safe space for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or ability.

Fire Safety Guidelines

Safety is our top priority. All attendees using fire props must adhere to the following guidelines:

Pre-Event Requirements:

  • Only experienced fire performers or those who have received adequate training may spin fire at this event.
  • All fire props must be inspected by the event’s designated Fire Safety Coordinator before use.

Fuel Station Rules:

  • Fuel areas are designated “No Fire Zones” to prevent accidents.
  • Never dip props outside the fuel station.
  • Wipe down props thoroughly after dipping to prevent fuel drips.
  • Keep fuel containers sealed when not in use.

Fire Spinning Areas:

  • Fire spinning is only permitted in designated fire zones.
  • Fire zones are marked and monitored by Fire Safety Marshals, who will ensure the area is clear of hazards.
  • Spectators must remain outside the marked fire zone.

Clothing and Equipment:

  • Performers must wear fire-safe clothing made from natural fibres (e.g., cotton, wool) and avoid synthetic materials.
  • Hair must be tied back, and any loose accessories or flammable materials should be removed.
  • Use only fire props specifically designed for spinning. Homemade or unsafe props are not allowed.

Fire Safety Personnel:

  • A Fire Safety Marshal must be present during any fire spinning. Performers must follow the marshal’s instructions at all times.
  • Marshals will be equipped with safety blankets, extinguishers, and first aid kits.

Spinning Etiquette:

  • Performers must not spin under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Do not light props unless you are ready to spin. Once finished, extinguish props immediately.
  • Maintain awareness of others in the fire zone to prevent collisions.

Emergency Protocols:

  • In the event of a fire incident, stop, drop, and roll or use a safety blanket.
  • Report all injuries or incidents to the Fire Safety Coordinator immediately.

Community Expectations

Leave No Trace:

  • Respect the forest and clean up after yourself.
  • Dispose of rubbish in designated bins.
  • Take care not to disturb wildlife.

Stay Hydrated and Healthy:

  • Look out for one another.

Alcohol and Substances:

  • Alcohol consumption is permitted in moderation.
  • Intoxication that endangers others or disrupts the event is not acceptable.
  • Illegal substances are prohibited.

Respect Boundaries:

  • If someone asks for space or declines an interaction, honour their boundaries without question.
